Car Radio Decoding

Car radios have used security or key codes since the late 80's / early 90's. This system was used as a theft deterrent because the systems are hard to get the code number from.
We have the equipment to retrieve the code numbers from 99% of factory fitted and aftermarket car audio systems including Satellite Navigation, CD Changers and even some of the latest VIN coded systems.
By reading the eprom (or chip as it is known) we can find the security code located inside and also reset any lock out timers.
We can also reset Ford units showing 'Lock 10' (not lock13)

We have been providing a service to the trade and retail since 2003.

Using our state of the art equipment we are able to retrieve the security codes from most makes and models of car audio whether fitted as standard or aftermarket units including Kenwood Sony and JVC.
We are able to read the chip that stores the code information, which guarantees your number will be correct.
Over the years we have decoded most makes of vehicles from the mundane, to Porsche, Bentley Ferrari and Jaguar.
The latest innovation in security coding is using the vehicles VIN number in both the ECU and Radio. We are now able to fix this problem in certain models.

Our decoding process revolves around the following:

  • The radio is removed from the car, and is then stripped down to find the essential component required.
  • We then remove the 'chip' using our SMD rework station, this is the same equipment we use on ECU's, not hit and miss soldering like other companies.
  • We then solder the chip to our reading hardware, and read the contents.
  • Once we have the contents we can locate the code number, either using our knowledge or other software.
  • We then re-solder the chip back into the radio, install it in the vehicle and test, if we have not already bench tested it.

More complicated radios i.e. Chrysler, Sat Nav, Aftermarket and VIN coded units require additional time and cost, however we will always let you know a cost before any work is done.

We are located just off the A50 in Stoke-on-Trent (Easily accessed from the M6 jct. 16 or 16) and welcome customers from:

Latest News and Updates:

As well as the standard radios that we can decode, below you will find details of some of the latest types of radios that we can decode.

Ford / Blaupunkt Travelpilot EX

We are now able to decode the factory fitted Ford Travelpilot EX navigation system made by Blaupunkt. If you have one of these radios and are unable to find the code number, we are able to decode it for £20. Some Ford dealerships are known to say that this radio cannot be decoded. This is wrong. We are now able to supply the code number for this radio / navigation system to get you back up and running.

Suzuki Blaupunkt CD (Ignis, Vitara etc)

We are able to decode this unit originally fitted to modern Suzuki vehicles (Ignis, Vitara, Grand Vitara etc.). This is a straight forward radio, and decoding is charged at £15.00. If the radio is not locked out then we can decode it while you wait. As the radio is linked to the vehicles display if it is locked out then we will need you to wait until the unit asks for the code. Please call us and we will advise you as to what needs doing

Peugeot 206, 307 etc. ECU Linked Radios (CAN Linked)

If you have a Peugeot 206, 307 etc and have either had a new ECU fitted or have swapped the radio for a CD player, then we are able to make this radio work in the car. These new breed radios are locked to the original vehicle and transmit and receive the chassis (VIN) number from the original car. If it doesn't match then the radio will constantly bleep every 3 or so seconds. We are able to recode the radio to the new car by changing the chassis (VIN) number inside.
This applies to radios manufactured by VDO only (Including 22RC280 and PSARCD100 - These details can be found on the sticker on the side) NOT the Clarion version. We are still working on the Clarion system

Prices for decoding these units are £20 and we will require the Chassis number of the vehicle the radio is going in to.
Please call us if you require this service or call in so that we can check it is one that is on our system.

Fiat / Alfa Romeo - CANCHECK.

If you have a replacement radio for your Fiat or Alfa Romeo and you're getting a CANCHECK error, then we can generally fix this problem by re-coding the stereo to the car. Please contact us for more details.
